As many of you know, former Comptroller General of the Federal Government David M. Walker (whom I cite multiple times in my book The Power of Zero) has formed an exploratory committee for a potential run for the Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut. Recently he penned this scathing op-ed in which he indicts the Federal Government’s gross mismanagement of its finances. He also describes the problems in Connecticut as merely emblematic of what’s happening on a national level. His “State of the State” gives good insight into how politicians kick the can down the road by attempting to address long-term problems with inadequate, short-term fixes.
